Pau Gasol Footwork

Pau Gasol impressed me with some of his footwork and coordination in the Lakers’ win over the Bucks earlier this week.
The Bucks led much of the first three quarters of this game, playing good scrappy defense. But when Los Angeles made a run in the fourth quarter, two moves by Gasol were key in helping the Lakers gain the lead.
The first was the most impressive. The 7-foot Gasol did a spin move on the edge of the lane. He faked inside and spun out. The defender went for the fake to the inside. Gasol showed good speed with the spin and with the defender leaning to the inside, Gasol had a clear path on the outside of the lane for a layup.
The second move by Gasol that caught my attention was a left-handed hook in the lane. It was very smooth and hard to defend.
The combo of Gasol and Kobe should be formidable in this year’s playoffs. But there will be plenty of competiton from the Celtics, Cavs and maybe even the Magic or the Spurs. The playoffs start in less than two weeks. It’s gonna be good. 40 games in 40 nights, with everything on the line.
